Week 6 – Foundation time!
Week 6 saw the foundation guys putting up the forms and getting ready to pour some concrete!!!
Day 2!
Since the foundation guys were only about 65-70% done with the forms yesterday I decided to take a trip back to the site to get some more pics. It looked quite a bit different and things started to make a lot more sense. Very interesting process!
Getting excited! The pour starts tomorrow at 11am! Matt, the builder, expects 6-8 concrete trucks to be lined up on the side of the road. Should make for some interesting pictures and video.
Day 3!
Day 3 of the foundation work started with some time at the office. The trucks weren’t expected to arrive until 11am. I gave them until 11:30am before I drove out there. When I arrived a HUGE pump truck was parked in the lot with a bunch of workers gathered around “campfire style” waiting for the cement trucks. Not shortly after, the first cement truck arrived. He loaded some cement into the big pump truck and they let some cement pour into dirt until they had the consistency they were looking for. The truck operator had a backpack mounted wireless remote controlling everything. What a cool job that would be!
Pretty cool video of the concrete going into the walls. The hammering technique is known as a “manual vibrator” 🙂
Pics came in from the model build today! The model builder, an exceptionally talented Intern, still has to put the beams under the cantilevered roof but I couldn’t wait to post the images. The detail on this 1/8″ scale model is incredible, along with the topography layout. I’ve been staring at these pictures ALL DAY. Can’t wait to get it in my hands!
On day 4 of week 6 the concrete forms came off revealing beautiful concrete walls!
